yup. I think one should start with sales to start his career in marketing. selling helps not only in bringing business to the company but also helps to understand the way consumers behave. in sales u are closest to the consumer. the analytical ability will improve while doing sales. once u have got enough experience in sales, u can shift to any marketing department other than sales. when u shift to another department say promotions or branding u will have enough knowledge of how consumers react and u will be able to build the strategies accordingly
